Eggsellent Eggs
We have had Living Eggs at Middleton before so we have some experience in handling eggs and chicks. The first chick has hatched today, Wednesday 30th March at 8.40am. The chick is still in the incubator drying his feathers and waiting for the rest of his family to hatch as well. We are trying to decide on his or her name at the moment.

We have some more exciting news; three more eggs have hatched today. The second egg hatched at 10.45am and the next two both hatched during lunchtime, 12.05pm and 1.05pm. All four chicks have been moved to the brooder now where they are all happy to relax under the lamp and feed and drink. There are two more eggs that appear to be about ready to hatch, one is rocking and we can hear a cheeping sound coming from inside and the other has pipped the shell and we can just see inside the egg and see it's beak poking through the crack. Hopefully tomorrow we should have two more chicks to be proud off.

Over the night we have a few new additions to the Middleton Chcik family. As the staff arrived this morning there was a real buzz around the incubator. Five more chicks had been born over night, they were placed inside the brooder with the rest of their brothers and sisters.

Over the weekend, the chicks have really had a growth spurt. They are now much bigger than when they were first born and you can see there are some feathers growing on their wings. We have been observing their growth and completing a diary and will continue watching them grow for a few more days.
