At the end of our transport topic we had a day designing and making a vehicle. We used our DT skills to plan and made our own vehicles. We helped our friends when we got stuck and had a very creative day! After our session in the ICT suite we finished our vehicles with wheels, windows with passengers and number plates! Well done, 2K. Year 2 Theatre Visit

Today year 2 watched a fantastic theatre show performed by the Handmade Theatre Company. We danced, sung and looked after eggs as we were in our bird nests. The actors used wooden flying puppets, glove puppets, toy birds, costumes, pull along toys and umbrella birds to bring life to the birds in the show. Year 2 Celebrating Nottingham in the Past Topic

This term we have focussed on Nottingham in the Past. Finding out about famous local people from the past, including Robin Hood and Jesse Boot. 2K Trip to Nottingham Castle.

2K visited Nottingham Castle as part of our Nottingham in the Past topic. We went on the bus and walked through Market Square. Luckily we were able to look inside the Council House building and sit on the steps for a photo before walking to the castle. At the castle we met Philip for our special Robin Hood session. Philip was dressed as one of Robin’s men. We learned all about what food Robin would have eaten from Sherwood Forest including eel which would have been trapped by a willow trap in the river. Luckily we managed to release our ‘eel’. Then we took part in a performance of the Golden Arrow story and after that we made masks like the ones used for our drama.   The children (and adults) were very tired when we got back to school, but we all had a fantastic day.
