Well done to all of our cross country runners who competed in a 1.5km race at Wollaton Park this week. Despite the muddy and wet conditions, the children performed excellently! Our boys’ team came in first place and all left with a gold medal! Huge congratulations go to Oliver Jakubiak who finished first overall and to George Sinski who finished second. What a fantastic achievement!
RRSA and School Council have been working hard to produce their own School Improvement Plan and here it is:
Middleton Primary and Nursery School
School Improvement Plan 2018-19
Make sure that the Rights Respecting School Award is part of everyone’s education at Middleton and try to achieve the Gold award again.
Make sure that the adults who help run the school (staff and governors) are working together to do the best they can for everyone at Middleton.
Keep the school running as normally as we can during the building works, and be ready for having an extra class start each year.
Teaching and learning
Teachers will try to help us to get even better at Maths and Writing. We will be given more time to do longer pieces of Writing by ourselves.
When we find things harder in Reading, Writing and Maths, teachers will try to give us extra help so we can catch up.
Lots of our work this term has been based on the theme of Into the Forest. We have enjoyed learning about the tales of Robin Hood and other forest related stories. We visited Sherwood Forest on a beautiful autumn day where we met Maid Marion. We have learnt how to use a bow and arrow in our PE lessons. We finished the topic with an amazing dress up day and built castles with special features to keep the enemy out.
On Thursday 8th November, Year 5 and Year 6 were invited to take part in the Games of Remembrance at Meadow Lane Stadium where the British Army played a friendly football game against the German Armed Forces. The event was very moving and our pupils behaved beautifully during the whole ceremony.
Here are some more pictures of our residential trip at Kingswood. The children had so much fun.
Here are some photos of the Y6 children from Kingswood. Activities the children have enjoyed so far include archery, high ropes, the leap of faith, laser quest, nightline, orienteering… We are having so much fun!
