Year 5 visited the Leicester Space Center on the 25th Of January. Whilst we were there we found out about the planets, rockets and the forces that affect us in space. We also learned all about what astronauts have to learn to cope with when they go up to the International Space Station.

The Iron Man  5KH

The Iron Man 5KH

Over the past few weeks, our Topic has been “The Iron Man”. To introduce and explore the story, Class 5KH made this spectacular Iron Man, with the help of a pupil’s granddad. Our classroom was filled with boxes of all shapes, sizes, materials, and lots of rolls of turkey foil! Most importantly, we had a team of excited children on hand, ready to bring these materials to life. We worked in groups to make the different parts of the Iron Man. Once all of the pieces were ready, they were assembled and in a few hours Class 5KH had built their very own Iron Man character, who now lives at the back of the classroom. The Iron Man came to 5KH. How far had he walked? Nobody knows. Where had he come from? Nobody knows. How was he made? With some boxes, glue and plenty of imagination!     .  ...
