We took part in the “Girls Can” event at Harvey Hadden Leisure center. Middleton was proud to be part of this initiative to encourage more girls to be active and take up sports. We spent a fun afternoon in company of 16 other primary schools.
What an afternoon we had at last week’s cross-country competition at Wollaton Park! Our girls team put in an excellent performance and showed great determination and sportsmanship. Our boys’ team were phenomenal and as a result won a silver medal! Well done to three of our boys, who earned themselves a place in the County Championships!
4 children in Year 5 have been selected as Middleton’s Sports Ambassadors. They are full of ideas of how to improve sport at Middleton and they will be helping the staff promote healthy lifestyles at school. We are very proud of them and the hard work they do around the school!
Our Sports ambassadors have been carefully chosen and show all of the necessary qualities:
– Must be approachable and have a good relationship with all children
– A positive role model and a good attitude towards learning and playing sports
– Be a good team member
– Able to engage and inspire others
– Must be organised and be a good timekeeper
Their job role is very important throughout the school and below you will see a list of jobs our Sporting Ambassadors will undertake throughout the school year. They will referee football, basket ball ,table tennis and cricket matches at dinner times and they will also organise various sports competitions. They will also hold a Change 4 Life Club assembly.
Last week the children took the opportunity of the wintry weather to play football in the snow. They had a fantastic time!
Middleton’s Hockey Team were outstanding at this week’s Quicksticks Tournament. Not only did they play with enthusiasm and skill, they showed excellent sportsmanship and were great ambassadors for the school!
As we settle in for night 2 at Kingswood, we have shared our favourite moments. So far highlights include: raft building, zip wire and archery (oh and of course the food). We are looking forward to the climbing wall tomorrow. We have had lovely weather for the most part and are all happy and healthy. We will continue to send regular messages through marvellousme. We are looking forward to seeing you all Friday.
