Pupil Premium & Free School Meals
Pupil Premium is funding provided to schools which is additional to main school funding. It is allocated according to the number of pupils on roll who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM). It is also allocated for children of service families and for each pupil who is 'looked after' (i.e. in care). The funding is extended to include pupils who have been eligible for Free School Meals at any point in the previous six years. The purpose of the funding is to accelerate progress and narrow achievement gaps where they may exist.
If you think you may qualify for Free School Meals, you can either telephone 0115 915 4084 or click here for an application:
It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for individual pupils. At Middleton, our funding is generally allocated in the following ways:
- Targeted small group and individual academic support
- Support with social and emotional needs, which may include family support and involvement from our Learning Mentor.
- Providing wider opportunities for children, such as access to after school clubs and subsidies for residential visits.
Our Pupil Premium strategy and monitoring is led by Mrs Sadler-Penn, the Deputy Head Teacher (firstname.lastname@example.org) . For further information on how our Pupil Premium money is spent and its impact, please read our latest annual report below.
